Gérard Weisbuch, a senior research associate with the CNRS, France, received a PhD in Physics, and worked in theoretical biology (Evolution, Immunology) using methods from discrete mathematics (Boolean nets, neural nets) and standard analysis. He is currently interested in environmental issues such as renewable resources and in the theory of institutions.

Guillemette Duchateau-Nguyen, a lecturer in Biology in the University of Paris-Orsay received a PhD in Biology, and worked on the theory of evolution and on mutualism in biology, using an Artificial Life approach. Following her research on fisheries, she is now working in bioinformatics and computational genomics.
