Juan Carlos González-Avella

Juan Carlos González-Avella is currently a Ph.D. candidate at IFISC (CSIC-UIB), in Palma de Mallorca (Spain), under the supervision of Professor Maxi San Miguel. He got a M.Sc. in Physics from the Universidad de Los Andes, Mérida (Venezuela), in 2006. He works in complex systems and in applications to social dynamics, in particular to the dissemination of culture.

Mario G. Cosenza

Mario G. Cosenza is Professor at the Universidad de Los Andes in Mérida (Venezuela), where he founded and leads a research group in Chaos and Complex Systems. He got a Ph.D in Physics from University of Texas at Austin (USA) in 1990, and he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of Toronto (Canada) between 1990-1992. His research has focused on spatiotemporal dynamical systems, mainly coupled map models defined on complex networks, and applications to social dynamics.

Konstantin Klemm

Konstantin Klemm is a research associate at the Department of Bioinformatics at Leipzig University (Germany). Klemm has a PhD in physics from the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). His research interests include complex networks and the dynamics of social and biological systems. He is a member of the German Physical Society and a co-organizer of the eighth German Workshop on Artificial Life.

Víctor M. Eguíluz

Víctor M. Eguíluz has a permanent position at IFISC (CSIC-UIB) in Palma de Mallorca (Spain). He got a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of the Balearic Islands (Spain) in 1999, and was a postdoctoral fellow in DELTA (CNRS- ENS-EHESS) in Paris (France) and the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen (Denmark). His research interests include complex systems in biology and social systems, with emphasis on complex networks and co-evolution between the network of interaction and agents' states. He is associate editor of the journal Advances in Complex Systems.

Maxi San Miguel

Maxi San Miguel is the director of IFISC (Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems, CSIC-University of the Balearic Islands) and Professor of the University of the Balearic Islands in Palma de Mallorca (Spain). He got a PhD in Physics from the University of Barcelona (Spain) in 1978. His research interests include statistical and nonlinear physics, and the dynamics of social systems. He is a member of the Spanish, European, and American Physical Societies.
