Kirk Harland

Dr Kirk Harland (KH) is an honorary researcher in the Centre for Spatial Analysis, School of Geography, University of Leeds. His PhD research focused on the development of spatial interaction models for simulating school choice. After completion of his PhD, KH worked on the ESRC funded project 'Modelling Individual Consumer Behaviour' before leaving to take a post in the NHS.

Alison Heppenstall

Dr Alison Heppenstall (AH) is a lecturer in Geocomputation at the School of Geography, University of Leeds. AH has a background in development of novel computational tools, in particular, agent-based modelling. Her PhD (2005) work focused on the development and customisation of agent-based models for replicating dynamics in retail markets. Subsequent postdoctoral work focused on spatially embedded networks and understanding complexity within geographical systems. Current work is focused on integrating agent-based models with microsimulation and behavioural frameworks.

Dianna Smith

Dr Dianna Smith (DS) is an MRC Fellow based at QMUL. Her research focuses on exploring the use of spatial microsimulation to replicate longitudinal data for policy analysis. Prior to this, DS worked as a postdoc at QMUL on research relating to geographies of health. DS's PhD research was undertaken at the University of Leeds, used microsimulation to assess the potential health applications of retail food access.
