Ben Fitzpatrick

Ben Fitzpatrick, Ph.D. is the Clarence J. Wallen Professor of Mathematics at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) and President of Tempest Technologies. He has 29 years of experience in statistical analysis, quantitative modeling, and software development. His most recent research on college drinking has involved the development of deterministic and stochastic compartmental models of student drinking behavior dynamics, the calibration of models to survey data, and understanding the impacts of reducing the minimum legal drinking age on problem drinking behaviors. Dr. Fitzpatrick holds a PhD in applied mathematics from Brown University and has published extensively in the areas of modeling, dynamics and control, and image processing.

Jason Martinez

Dr. Jason Martinez received the B.A. degree sociology from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, in 1996, and the Master of Arts and Ph. D. degrees in sociology from the University of California, Riverside, in 2000 and 2005, respectively. He taught sociology at California State University, San Bernardino before joining Tempest Technologies in 2007.

Elizabeth Polidan

Elizabeth has worked as a data analyst on R&D projects including detector characterization and radiation studies for the development of several space-based instruments including the Wide Field Camera 3 on the Hubble Space Telescope. Most recently, Elizabeth has worked on the development of deterministic and stochastic ecological and biological models and the calibration of those models to empirical data.

Ekaterini Angelis

Dr. Kate Angelis has diverse experience working with clients from government, industry, academia and not-for-profit sectors, both nationally and internationally, on a variety of engagements, including: developing strategic communications for the U.S. Government to support investment in international infectious disease research programs, business and strategic planning for an emerging academic health sciences network, and working collaboratively with the Government of Nigeria to develop a national HIV vaccine strategy. Kate graduated with a Ph.D. from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and holds an Honors Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from the same institution.
