Nicole J. Saam is assistant professor at the Institute of Sociology, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany. Her research focuses on modeling and simulation in the social sciences, sociology of organizations, political sociology, and Thai studies. Currently she is also working on hybrid learning communities and investigating the competence of and requirements upon human actors and artificial agents. Her organizational studies concentrate on theories of consulting and on organizational reforms of the Thai Buddhist order. She has pubished numerous papers on simulating sociological theories.

Andreas G. Harrer is research assistant at the Department of Computer Science, Technische Universität München, Germany, where he obtained his master in 1996. His main fields of interest are intelligent tutoring systems. He is writing his PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. Manfred Paul and focuses on the intelligent support of group learning in distributed intelligent tutoring systems through artificial agents. Further fields of interest are object-oriented design, automata theory and social simulations.
