Prof. Dr. Thomas Sauerbier holds degrees in both computer engineering and economics. He worked in industry for ten years developing and simulating integrated electronic circuits. Simultaneously he obtained his PhD in economics at the Darmstadt University of Technology. In 1997 he changed to the University of Applied Sciences of Heilbronn as a professor for business administration, especially information systems and quantitative methods. Since 2002 he has held a position as a professor at the University of Applied Sciences of Giessen-Friedberg for Information Systems and Communications Systems. His main research interests concern socio-economic microsimulation and developing software for simulation systems.
