Born in Essen, Germany, November 1950. 1969-1973 Student at Bochum University (philosophy, sociology, political sciences). 1973 MA in social sciences. 1977 PhD in philosophy, Essen University. Title: Normativity and Rationality - The Problem of Practical Reason in Analytical Philosophy. 1983 Habilitation, Karlsruhe University. Title: Formal Dialectics - Towards a Theory of Rational Argumentation. 1974-1986 Assistant professor at Essen University, Dept. of Philosophy. 1986-1988 Heisenberg scholar of the German National Science Foundation (DFG). 1988-1996 Professor of philosophy at Bremen University. 1994-1995 Fellow in residence at The Netherlands Institute For Advanced Study (research group Understanding Social Dilemmas). 1995 Guest Professor at the Institute For Advanced Study, Vienna. since 1996 Professor of philosophy at Bayreuth University. 1999?2000 Fellow in residence at the Center For Interdisciplinary Research (Bielefeld University) (research group Making Choices)

Ulrich Krause

Ulrich Krause obtained his PhD. in Mathematics in 1967 from the University of Erlangen-Nuernberg and his PhD. in Economics in 1979 from the University of Hannover. Since 1973 he is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Bremen, Germany. He has been Visiting Professor at various Universities and he published books and articles in Mathematics as well as in Economics. His main research interest is in algebra/number theory, difference equations, positive discrete dynamical systems, social and economic dynamical modelling, theory of production, decision theory/social choice.
